Best Supplements for Beginners: What to Buy First and What to Skip
New to the gym? These are the supplements that actually make a difference, the ones you can skip at first, and the right order to buy them.
When people start going to the gym, they often feel they need to buy everything. In reality, only 3 or 4 things make a real difference early on. The rest can wait.
Before any supplement: sleep well, eat enough protein and train consistently. Supplements add to these, they do not replace them.
1. Protein (if your diet falls short)
If you cannot reach your protein target from food, one or two scoops a day solve that easily. Read whey vs beef protein to choose.
2. Creatine
The most proven supplement for strength and muscle, and it is safe and cheap. 5 g a day is all you need. Read the creatine guide.
3. Vitamin D
Many people in Egypt are low in vitamin D without knowing it, and that affects energy, muscles and immunity. Get tested if you can, and read the vitamin D article.
4. Omega-3
If you eat fish less than twice a week, omega-3 supports your heart and joints and helps recovery.
What to skip at first
- Fat burners: without a proper diet they do very little, and most are high in caffeine.
- Testosterone boosters: if you are young and sleep and eat well, you probably do not need them.
- BCAAs: if you already get enough protein, they add little.
Buying order on a tight budget
- Creatine
- Protein (if you need it)
- Vitamin D
- Omega-3 or a multivitamin
Start with one or two, stick with them for two months, then reassess.
